Safe For The Moment is an ongoing series of works on paper that traces how stress imprints itself on the body over time. Gina D’Emilio builds layered compositions that mirror psychological fluctuation, using reflective papers that shift from warm to cool to echo gradual or sudden turns in mood. Fluorescent and phosphorescent pigments register moments of calm and rupture. Through color and form, D’Emilio maps emotional and physical tension, revealing the often unseen rhythms of stress and endurance and the fragile balance between turmoil and resilience. The work emerges from an ongoing inquiry into how the body carries stress—and how these accumulated pressures quietly shape both individual and collective experience.
