Gina D’Emilio’s artwork speaks to the quiet negotiations between the body and its inner weather. Her paintings, drawings, and sculptural works explore how stress lives in us—not as a moment that passes, but as a rhythm that repeats, settles, and shapes behavior over time. Anxiety and fear leave traces, and in her work these traces accumulate, forming patterns that feel both protective and constraining. Through layers of reflective paper, shifting color fields, and fluorescent pigments, D’Emilio makes visible the tension between rupture and rest, hypervigilance and release. The work hovers between intensity and calm, inviting us to notice what we often overlook: the emotional residues we carry, and the subtle possibility of interrupting what has become familiar.

Gina D’Emilio holds an MFA in Studio Art from Moore College of Art & Design and a BA in K-12 Art Education from Holy Family University. Her work has been shown internationally, including at Zona Maco Art Week in Mexico City with Proyectos De Residencia (PRPGMX), and online with Dab Art Gallery, Jen Tough Gallery, Deanna Evans Projects, and Toula Gallery. Her work is also published in Beautiful Foot by Nora Novak and in the book Artists of the Bay Area. She lives in San Francisco and teaches art education in Menlo Park.
